What Is Public Relations Management?
Public relations are used to build rapport with employees, customers, investors, voters, or the general public. Almost any organization that has a stake in how it is portrayed in the public arena employs some level of public relations. There are a number of public relations disciplines falling under the banner of corporate communications, such as analyst relations, media relations, investor relations, internal communications and labor relations. Most of them include the aspect of peer review to get liability.
Other public relations disciplines include:
Financial public relations providing information mainly to business reporters
Consumer/lifestyle public relations gaining publicity for a particular product or service, rather than using advertising
Crisis public relations responding to negative accusations or information
Industry relations providing information to trade bodies

The person working as a Public Relation Manager in the industry sector do more than just tell the organizational story, they must understand the attitudes and concerns of community, consumer, employee, and public interest groups and establish and maintain cooperative relationships with them and with representatives from print and broadcast journalism. They draft press releases and contact people in the media who might print or broadcast their material and starts such things as radio or television special reports, newspaper stores, and magazine articles that help influence the public opinion on an individual or an organization.
The Public Relation Manager is also responsible for preparing annual reports and writing proposals for various projects.
Public Relation manager working in government are often called press secretaries, information officers, public affairs specialists, or communication specialists. Just like working in the private sector they keep the public informed about the activities of agencies and officials that are part of the government.
The Public Relation Manager who handles publicity for an individual or who directs public relations for a small organization deal with all aspects of the job. They contact people, plan and research, and prepare materials for distribution. The Public Relation Specialist may handle advertising or sales promotions work to support marketing efforts.
