National Qualifications

Oxbridge Academy provides accredited qualifications and programmes from various national institutes and associations that issue the final certificate. The national bodies offering qualifications include the Chartered Institute of Secretaries South Africa (CIS), Institute of Business Studies (IBS) and the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB). These programmes are credit-bearing, registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and accredited by a relevant Education and Training Quality Assurance (ETQA) authority, such as Sector Education and Training Authority (Seta), including Finance, Accounting, Management Consulting and Other Financial Services (Fasset).

Institute of Business Studies (IBS)

Institute of business studies IBSThe Institute of Business Studies (IBS) is a professional body and an affiliate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) in South Africa. Therefore all IBS qualifications are accredited by Fasset (the Seta for finance, accounting, management consulting and other financial services). The programmes offered by the IBS serve as a stepping stone to more advanced ICSA courses. By obtaining the broad skills base of the IBS qualifications, students enable themselves to eventually choose from various professions in the fields of commerce and industry.

Admission requirements:
Grade 10 with English and Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy/Accounting OR
Equivalent qualification.
Duration:
Six months per module. The recommended period to complete the course is 12 months. Students can register for more than one module at a time.
Assessment information:
Oxbridge Academy doesnt require formative assessments (assignments) but the IBS conducts summative assessments (exams) for all national qualifications. Exams are written during May and October at exam centres throughout South Africa. Exam applications, plus the exam fee, must be submitted to the IBS before the closing dates as prescribed by the institute. Details on fees, dates and assessments can be obtained from the IBS.
Awarding body:
Upon successful completion the student receives an IBS professional qualification, accredited by Fasset.

Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB)

Institute of certified bookkeepers ICBThe ICB conducts professional assessments for people who intend following a career in bookkeeping and accounting. ICB qualifications are offered through accredited national training providers, such as Oxbridge Academy.

Admission requirements:
Grade 10 or equivalent. No prior bookkeeping knowledge is required. Students must have access to a computer.
Duration:
Six months per module. The recommended period to complete the course is 12 months. Students can register for more than one module at a time.
Assessment information:
Formative and summative assessments (assignments and exams) are administered by the ICB in February, May, August and November. Exam centres are available throughout South Africa. The exam registration, together with the exam fees, should be submitted to the ICB before the closing dates prescribed by the institute. Details on fees, dates and assessments can be obtained from the ICB.
Awarding body: Upon successful completion the student receives an ICB certificate outlining the unit standards covered.

Chartered Secretaries of South Africa (CIS)

Chartered secretaries CISThe CIS is an affiliate of the South African branch of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA). Therefore all CIS national qualifications are accredited by Fasset (the Seta for finance, accounting, management consulting and other financial services). The programmes offered by the CIS serve as the more advanced ICSA courses. By obtaining the broad skills base of the CIS qualification, which is internationally recognised, students may have highly rewarding management careers as a Company Secretary, Accounting Officer, or Corporate Administrator.

Admission requirements:
Grade 12 with English and Mathematics / Mathematical Literacy / Accounting; OR Successful completion of the IBS Professional Qualification: Management and Administration (NQF 4) ; OR Equivalent qualification.
Duration:
Six months per module. The recommended period to complete the course is 12 months. Students can register for more than one module at a time.
Assessment information:
The CIS conducts summative assessments (exams) for all modules. Exams are written during May and October at exam centres throughout South Africa. Membership registration, exam applications, plus the exam fee, must be submitted to the CIS before the closing dates as prescribed by the institute. Awarding body:
Upon successful completion the student receives a CIS professional qualification, accredited by Fasset.
